Your Daily Install connects what’s happening now with a useful pattern from the past—and one simple step you can take today to make your household more resilient.
Print the worksheet below, fill it in, and add it to your Household Resilience Network binder.
What’s happening now?
You have the money. The card reader cannot reach its network. Now the small purchase is a bigger problem.
November brings holiday errands and travel planning. Before the extra trips begin, check whether your wallet has any payment option that works without a charged phone or a card network.
You do not need a large cash stash. Start with a modest amount you can spare for one small essential purchase.
Has this happened before?
On July 19, 2024, a faulty CrowdStrike update disrupted computers around the world. Airlines, banks and other services were affected. Microsoft later estimated that 8.5 million Windows devices were hit.
The problem was a software update, not people suddenly losing the money in their accounts. But a working account was little help when the system needed to use it was unavailable.
What happened next?
Teams repaired systems and services returned. For households, the lasting lesson was about shared points of failure. A phone wallet and a physical card can still rely on the same payment network.
Give one small purchase another route. Cash cannot make a closed shop open, but it may help when a shop is trading and its card reader is not.
You walked in. What did you come for?
You stop in the doorway. The reason you came in has gone blank. Here is the unusual question behind this memory-support video: what do bacteria have to do with memory? Watch the approach behind ProMind Complex.

Take 10 minutes with your wallet. Pick an amount that fits your budget and one likely need, such as food on the way home. Use a few small bills rather than a large note that needs lots of change.
Keep the amount secure and out of sight. Do not carry account passwords or PINs with it. If setting money aside would leave you short today, write down the plan and build it slowly.
Check it before a trip. Replace what you use when you can. The point is a modest backup—not withdrawing your savings.
